Hollywood Catchup: Mark Millar PSA / Unfollow #1

screen-shot-2015-03-30-at-3-40-18-pmThree books were officially picked up by Hollywood studios this week, really only ones important but I’ll touch on that last.

Huck01_CvrHuck #1 came out this week, penned by Mark Millar and drawn by Rafael Albuquerque. No surprise that it was optioned for a film adaptation weeks before its release, giving retailers the option to order more copies. This book has no speculation value – Millar knows that getting news websites to pick up his comics means his book will sell better so he uses it as a ploy – Its too formulaic as this point. Currently Huck #1 is selling for under cover on ebay – again, right now this is not a book to be picking up and holding on to as it as no speculation value.

65967-11272-98964-1-hawaiian-dick-1Another book to get optioned this week comes straight out of the dollar bin – Hawaiian Dick, an image series from 2002 – is being developed into a TV-series with Johnny Knoxville tagged along to be playing the main role. This book should increase in value over-time if development on this TV-show moves forward. Hawaiian Dick is a three part series and it is the first issue of the first series that is worth looking for.

The winner of this weeks announcements is a Vertigo title that came out at the beginning of the month, November 4, Unfollow #1. This book is being developed into a television series by Warner Brothers (Parent Company of DC Comics – Owner of Vertigo). Issue 2 is due to arrive December 2 – and with Unfollow #1s already hitting $10 on ebay you’re not going to want to miss out on this title. This book has the potential for long term value.

Happy Speculating
