Week in Review: February 21

Vault comics is a new comic publisher that started bringing out its titles last week. Last week saw the release of Tim Daniels, Fissure #1 from Vault. It subsequently has sold out at Diamond and is starting to trend online. It currently has two sales on ebay above cover, all best offer sales (1 and 2).
Vault is released another book this week and it is starting to follow the same trend as Fissure. This book isn’t written by Tim Daniels and seems to have some pretty solid content. That title is Heathen #1. Heathen is being pushed as a viking lesbian love story with lots of violence so it could potentially have legs. This is the book you should be looking for tomorrow.

Another book coming out tomorrow that has two versions, a regular copy and a limited edition Hardcover is the Legend of Zelda Art and Artifacts Limited Edition HC, published by Dark Horse Comics. The Limited Edition Hardcover has been selling well in presales in the past few weeks, has a very cool fold out sword cover, and has been sold out on every online retailer imaginable for weeks. The Hardcover retails for $75 USD and has sold this week for $130 USD. Comic book and book stores start to receive copies this week and it is definitely something you should be keeping an eye out for.

Word?!?! Sam and Twitch

Seven years ago Todd Mcfarlane confirmed that he was working on a Sam and Twitch TV series. Sam and Twitch are two characters that first appeared in Spawn #1 and later had a spin-off series written by up and coming writer at the time, Brian Michael Bendis. Today it was announced that Kevin Smith was writing the Sam and Twitch TV-series for the BBC.

The first appearance of the characters Sam and Twitch is Spawn #1 but there are two other characters in their universe that you should be speculating on.

Jinx – this is a creator owned character created by Brian Michael Bendis in 1996 that he later brought over to Image. Jinx is an assassin who first appeared in Sam and Twitch in issue #15.  Her first comic book appearance is Jinx #1 from Caliber Press. (later reprinted by Image)

The other recurring character in the Sam and Twitch comic universe that appeared in at least 16 different issues of the Sam and Twitch spin-off series, Dr. K. C. Mcrory. Dr. K. C is a crime scene investigator so depending on how heavy this series focuses on crime, this character should be appearing in the tv-series. Dr. K.C. Mcrory’s first appearance is the first issue of Sam and Twitch #1 from 1999.

Both Jinx #1 and Sam and Twitch #1 are very affordable books that can easily be found in the wild for under $10.

Week in Review: February 15

Not a lot happening this week. I am still taking tips for speculation through e-mail and I credit everyone that gives me information.
If for some reason you think I owe you credit – do not hesitate to contact me at Hiphopfcomics@gmail.com

This was first brought up on the CBSI Google+ page by  UltraMaximus.

Out this week and already selling well is the second printing of Gods Country #1.

Some stores are reporting that they were allocated copies, which means that Diamond didn’t fulfill the stores complete order and only partially filled it – which means the book is already sold out at Diamond and the demand is greater then the print run.
This book can still be found in the wild but online this book is starting to sell for $10! Long term this book might not hold its value. God’s Country is only two issues so far and sales trends of Gods Country #1 show in the past few weeks the book has started trending down (Average sale price on ebay January 11 $16.99. Average sale price February 15 $12) -which puts Gods Country #1 second print in the quick flip category.

If you can find copies list them fast and don’t look back.

Lets take a look at GOTG 2

I don’t really have anything new to talk about this week.

Trey of CBSI made a great post on Comic Book Invest Trey of CBSI made a great post on Comic Book Invest this week and I would like to expand on it.

This week the Marvel Legend retailer solicitation went out and aside from the characters you’d expect, on the list of Guardians of the Galaxy figures were Death Head II and Adam Warlock. Full disclosure, this was discovered in October at NYCC but apparently no one connected the dots.

Why is this important?
Both Adam Warlock and Death Head II* have already appeared in Guardians of the Galaxy 1 in easter egg cameos. Having them as figures, and in different incarnations as we previously saw them, suggests they will be featured in Guardians of the Galaxy 2.

Shoutout to Brandon Yocom for providing this screen cap from GOTG 1.

*That screen capture clearly shows Death Head II in the background in Guardians of the Galaxy 1. The Head in this picture is typical Death Head II and he appears to be wearing some kind of armor/ body-cuff keeping him from moving. Also you can see faint blue skin on the arms and locks of red hair flowing from his head .

I still don’t understand why this is important.
It appears that Death Head II is going to appear in the new Guardians of the Galaxy film and his first appearance is in Death Head II #1 a very easy to find book in the wild. (The concept of Death Head first appears in another book, which is pointed out here on Comic Book Invest.)  More importantly, this also means that Adam Warlock will most likely play some kind of role on screen in the film. We already know HER/Ayesha is appearing in the film but the news about the toys actually being produced, before any suggestions of a Ayesha figure, shows that the likelihood of Adam Warlock appearing in the Guardians of the Galaxy II being very high.

This means that you should be going out and looking for copies of Fantastic Four #67 and Marvel Premier #1 – the first appearance Him and the First appearance as Adam Warlock. This is not an inexpensive book, however, already having a strong following depending on how this character is used he could very well be the next big marvel character.

Shout out Shaun Leggitt for correcting my post
