The last few days every speculation related website or social media group has been focused on DC censoring future issues of Batman the Damned #1. DC’s Batman the Damned #1 features full frontal nude panels of Bruce Wayne – which has been reported on by many mainstream media outlets including the Guardian and TMZ. Batman the Damned #1 has a print-run of just over 100,000 and both covers have been selling for $25 to $30 online.
There is also a retailer proof edition of this book that was sent to retailers in July. This book only features the artwork and has no text. Online it has been selling for $60 to $100.

This isn’t the first time something like this has happened. In 2006 Marvel revamped their Marvel Knights imprint and started to publish high-quality mature limited series. The Marvel Knights imprint published stories that took place outside of the current Marvel Universe. One of those series was Spider-Man Reign. When the first issue of Spider-Man Reign was released marvel sent out a content advisory to retailers and stated the book was 100% returnable based on its content. This was because one of the panels included a nude adult spider-man. Like Batman the Damned #1, Spider-Man Reign #1 was not recalled by the publisher, however, the nude panel was removed from all subsequent printings. A few years ago this book would regularly sell for $10+. There are currently copies of this book for sale online at cover price.

Recalled Comic Watch!

Last week Marvel issued a notice to comic book retailers letting them know that the recent, Marvel Rising: Ms. Marvel and Squirrel Girl #1 was being reprinted because the issue sent out to stores was missing a page. This book has three covers and they have been selling sporadically online.

This week DC has told retailers to call certain copies of Batman Kings of Fear #1 in as damaged due to a printing error. One of the panels has a weird text that reads “Batman:What Knight” – it is very out of place. While I haven’t been able to find copies of this book that don’t feature the error, DC has stated not all copies are affected.

These books are great books to be purchasing and holding onto. While both of these books have large print run, DC and Marvel error / recalled books go up in value over time, especially in high grade condition. Two examples of these kind of books that perform very well are All Star Batman and Robin #10 and Wolverine #131 – both of these books had very large print runs and they sell very well in both raw high grade condition and in Graded CGC 9.8.

WORD?! Batman / Superman News ? -Part 2

Spoilers Ahead. As discussed in my previous post, a reddit user claims to have seen the new Batman / Superman Film and is giving away spoilers. For some reason these are being regarded as credible spoilers. However, the Original Poster has given evidence of being at a mystery screening for Warner Brothers. Here is my previous post.

Jena Malone to this point had been playing an undiclosed character – however the Reddit user confirms that she is playing a crippled Barbara Gordon. This is big news because it means the Killing Joke is in the DC Movie Zeitgeist. This also helps give credibility to Suicide Squad #47 and Suicide Squad #49 from 1990 – the flashback issues. These are the three books that should see an increase in value come the release of the Batman / Superman film.

Holly-Very-Weird: New Mutants Movie

Screen shot 2015-04-08 at 10.37.19 PM

So What if #10 is already selling for $100 in raw NM condition and BleedingCool is even talking about it. But thats not the break-out news of the day. Today I read on Comicsheatingup that Fox has decided to spin a movie out of their X-Men Franchise based on The New Mutants. I thought it was a joke at first but can now confirm that Fox really is developing something based on the New Mutants, as confirmed by THR. This could be because of continued interest and the development within the Deadpool Film, also produced by Fox – so one can assume there will be easter eggs and the Deadpool movie will lead into the new FOX New Mutants film.

So what does that mean? There are two books you should be looking for that in the past 12 months have been slowing commanding a premium in high grade condition – selling for over Overstreet Guide prices. Now these two books are going to explode.

Marvel Graphic Novel V.1 #4 – (1982) – the first appearance of the New Mutants
Raw copies are selling for $60 – $100, which is more then double the $30 high this book had been getting before the recent FOX News. CGC 9.8 copies are selling for $350 with more then three selling on ebay today. This book is on fire.

The New Mutants #1 (1983) – The first on-going series.
This book has dollar bin written all over it. This book is trending up, and will have a LOT of moving room!

Thanks to Zack for the great intel! Check out his ebay!

So Batman #40 is going nuts already

So Batman and Joker die in Batman #40 tomorrow, which has resulted in.

Screen shot 2015-04-28 at 10.09.20 PM

The Batman “Mask” Movie variant is already selling for $10+ on ebay while the 1:25 Variant cover is selling anywhere from $40 – $50 with some presales a few days ago around $100 and some other auctions hovering around the $90 mark. The 1:25 Variant cover is going to be the book to go after tomorrow. Many stores will be receiving more copies in the next two weeks when Diamond fills the after FOC reorders, so the 1:25 Andy Kubert Variant is going to be the one to look for.

Screen shot 2015-04-29 at 12.18.58 AMAnother variant cover to look for this week is the IDW Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles #45 1:10 Variant. This cover features what appears to be a Robotic Donatello. If Donatello didn’t die as I’ve previously suggested, TMNT #44 is still going to be an important book because there is clearly some kind of Easter Weekend revival going on with him.

Week in Review: April 20: Batman Endgame

Screen shot 2015-04-19 at 9.59.36 PMThis was brought up on the Comic Book Invest website earlier today. So this post is a summary of whats happening with the Batman Endgame story line leading into Batman: Convergence.

Scott Snyder has said for the past few months to expect big things to happen in the Batman Universe. Batman Endgame has been getting rave reviews and has been selling well in both comic book stores and in the comic book after market. The final part of the storyline comes out on April 29 and the story is continued directly after in the DC FCBD book that comes out on May 2 2015. As with all FCBD comics, the books are shipped to retailers weeks in advance – this is to account for shortages or damages allowing the distributor company to send replacements – so that more customers get the books they want on FCBD.

As revealed in the linked article, the FCBD book explains that Batman and Joker died in the previous issue never to return – and the issue is continued in Batman Convergence. Solicitations for Batman #41 suggested that Bruce Wayne would be replaced as batman but now it is confirmed that in Batman #41 Bruce Wayne is dead and commissioner Gordon will take on the reign as a new Batman.

So here are the books you should be looking for.

Gordon of Gotham #1 – This is the first Commissioner Gordon solo book

Batman #35 Endgame Part 1
There are convention variants and a rare combo-pack edition for this book. All covers have a lot of potential. Depending on how long this Batman lasts, the Batman Endgame storyline is going to have legs for years to come, with the possibility of becoming another staple Batman Storyline.

Batman #40 is going to be a big book since it is going to be the Death issue. The covers to look for are the 1:25 AND HIGHER variant covers and the digital copy variant which is already selling at presale auction for $15+!

Divergence DC FCBD is going to be a new beginning for Batman. So Already this has the potential for being the 2015 FCBD Speculation winner. (But there is another HIP HOP Family Tree that looks good! (I know, I’ll talk about FCBD Speculation before FCBD I hope.))

Sorry for not posting in a few days. I havn’t had anything to write about.
