Today saw the release of a new trailer for the upcoming Deadpool 2 film. In the trailer we are introduced to an unnamed character who Cable proclaims he is going to hunt and kill. There are a few theories about who this character is and I would like to explore them.

Screenrant pushed out an article on there website soon after the trailer was released with a casting theory that this unnamed character played by Julian Dennison is Kid Apocalypse. I think this would make the most sense. The First time we see Kid Apocalypse in comics is when a clone of him is introduced in Uncanny X-Force #4 from 2011 – this is the lowest print issue from this series and has always commanded a premium over other issues from this series. The book currently sells for $10 to $20 in near mint condition. The non-clone REAL Kid Apocalypse first appears in Uncanny X-Force #7. Both of these are good books to be sitting on.

Another theory that came out today from slashfilms is that Julian Dennison’s character is Armageddon Man. When it comes down to Kid Apocalypse or Armageddon Man I think it is more likely the character will be Kid Apocalypse – but there has still not been any confirmation either way. Armageddon Man first appears in X-Force #88 from 1999.

While I don’t think these books are going to become $30 books overnight, I do think they will see some increased interest over the next few weeks until we find out who these character really are.

Thank you John Brown, William Zachman and Gary Nusser.

Hot Shot Run Down

Deadpool back in black #1 comes out next month, a series based around the Venom symbiote taking over Deadpool. A cool concept but when was its first appearance?
Cable and Deadpool #50 – the last issue in that series is the first appearance of Deadpool as Venom. This book came out in 2008 – three years before the What if Venom took over Deadpool mini-series.

This book currently sells for $30 to $50 in high grade but can still be found in the wild at bargain prices. This is a book to be looking for! When Deadpool back in Black aka Deadpool as Venom really kicks off with fans, this is the book everyone is going to be looking for!

Thanks to UltraMaximus. He was the first person to point this out on Google+.

While we’re on the subject of Venom – a book to look for is the new Marvel Now! Venom #38. This book sells for $25 to $40 as it features the new Venom Side-kick character, Mania. Will this book have long term potential? probably not – but it has great flip potential!

Week in Review

Two weeks have gone by without a new post, which means I have a lot to talk about in the next few days.

Screen shot 2016-04-14 at 1.19.43 AM

This week sees the release of Marvels new Moon Knight series. Written by Jeff Lemire, the first issue is already seeing rave reviews. This book has a few variants but the one to look for is the 1 in 25 – Marco Rudy Variant. This book has been selling for $15 to $20 in presales but has been trending upwards today with peak sales of $30. This is a book to be looking for.

Another book to be on the hunt for is Spider-Man / Deadpool #1. Into four printings (fourth printing not yet released) – these books are on fire! Spider-Man / Deadpool #1 first print has been selling for upwards of $30! with an average sale price of $15 to $20. Meanwhile, the second and third prints have been selling around double cover at $8, with the third print hitting upwards of $15. All three printings have color variations with the third print having added dialogue.

A book that I was tipped off about on the CGC Boards is Sheriff of Babylon #1. This Vertigo mini-series seems to be selling for upwards of $20 with an average price of $15. This book like Spider-Man / Deadpool #1 has a very high likelihood of being at your local comic book store.
