Week in Review: September 19

I touched one some hot books this week on the latest episode of the Comic Book Scalping weekly podcast but here are some books that are selling well online that I didn’t talk about.

This week sees the release of Edge of Spider-Geddon #3. This book was released on the coattails of last months release of Edge of Spider-Geddon #2, which featured the first appearance of Mechanical Venom. A few days after release, the two cover set of Edge of Spider-Geddon #2 was selling online consistently for $25. Both books are currently selling for $5 to $10 each.
Edge of Spider-Geddon #3 features the first appearance of Uncle Ben as Spider-Man. There are two covers for this book and both have been selling for $7 to $10. I doubt either of these books will stay at these prices but right now there is some great quick flip potential.

This week also sees the first appearance of Xandra. Xandra is the daughter of Professor Xavier and Lilandra Neramani, the Empress of the Shi’ar Empire. Xandra first appears in this weeks Mr and Mrs. X #3. While the regular cover has been selling well, it hasn’t been selling above cover whereas The 1:25 Terry Dodson variant for Mr. and Mrs. X #3 has been getting a lot of attention selling for $50 to $60 online.

Another book that comes out this week that you should look at picking up is the new Keenspot book, Junior High Horrors #1, the first issue of the four part mini-series. Junior High Horrors has four covers, all four covers homage classic horror movie posters – three of the covers were open order to retailers and one was a ratio variant. The Junior High Horrors #1 Cover B (the exorcist poster homage) has been selling on ebay for $12 while the 1 in 5 ratio cover has been selling for $25 online. As of writing this post, all four covers are still available on the keepspot website.

Week in Review: August 15

This week sees the release of a two Joshua Middleton covers and a marvel chase variant.

Aquaman #39 comes out this week and it has a cover B variant by Joshua Middleton. The cover features Mera – a character that is appearing in the new Aquaman film. This book has sold out at the distributor level, meaning comic book stores can’t order any more copies – and it has been selling for $12 to $20 in presale online. It is currently selling for closer to $12.

Batgirl #25 also features a Joshua Middleton cover B Variant . While This book hasn’t been selling over cover price it been receiving a lot of attention online. The previous two Batgirl Middleton covers sell very well on the secondary market with the cover B variants for Batgirl #23 selling for $40 to $50 and Batgirl #24 selling for around $13. This is a book to be looking for this week.

Another book that came out this week in Infinity War #2. Infinity War #2 features a secret unannounced variant cover. It is believed to have been sent out by marvel in a 1 in 10 ratio. The last time Marvel did this was for Avengers #682 – which features two different variations of Hawkeye on the cover. The chase version of that book still sells for $8 to $9. I would expect that would be the same situation with this new variant.
