This week sees the release of two ratio variants that are performing very well on the secondary market, and since the last few weeks have been dominated with high ratio variant speculation here are two to be looking for.
This week sees the release of the New Skottie Young series Middlewest #1. This book has three covers, a regular cover as well as a 1:10 ratio and a 1:20 ratio variant cover. While the 1:10 variant has not seen a lot of movement the 1:20 variant has been selling for $70 to $100 online. The 1:20 variant is the only cover where the artwork is by Skottie Young.
Another ratio variant that has been seeing a lot interest over the last few weeks is the 1:100 Web of Venom: Carnage Born #1 Kyle Hotz Virgin Variant. While this book has a few store variants – which inflates the print runs of all ratio variants for any particular book, this variant has been selling for $90 to $130.
Dead Rabbit update. Dead Rabbit #1’s and #2s have been selling for $10 to $15 – for more information on this book read my previous post.
This week sees the release of a few books you should be looking for.
This week marvel has released a new secret variant cover. The last time they did this was with the unmasked Infinity War #2 variant. This Week for Marvel’s Venom #7 there is a chase variant cover with an unknown ratio. The chase cover features a Venom with his tongue sticking to the left. This book has been selling for $15 to $20.
Chase Variant is on the Right
Another book that comes out this week that has been selling well is the cover B for Wonder Woman #56. This cover by Jenny Frison has been selling for two to three times cover on ebay.
A book that comes out this week that has been seeing a lot of continued interest is the new DC Batman Horror Book, Cursed Comic Cavalcade #1. This 9.99 cover price book is going to be very sought after.
It is also worth mentioning that news came out today that God Country is being developed for the big screen, with the screenplay to be written by series writer Donny Cates.
Deadpool back in black #1 comes out next month, a series based around the Venom symbiote taking over Deadpool. A cool concept but when was its first appearance? Cable and Deadpool #50 – the last issue in that series is the first appearance of Deadpool as Venom. This book came out in 2008 – three years before the What if Venom took over Deadpool mini-series.
This book currently sells for $30 to $50 in high grade but can still be found in the wild at bargain prices. This is a book to be looking for! When Deadpool back in Black aka Deadpool as Venom really kicks off with fans, this is the book everyone is going to be looking for!
Thanks to UltraMaximus. He was the first person to point this out on Google+.
While we’re on the subject of Venom – a book to look for is the new Marvel Now! Venom #38. This book sells for $25 to $40 as it features the new Venom Side-kick character, Mania. Will this book have long term potential? probably not – but it has great flip potential!
At last weekend’s C2E2 Robbi Rodriguez known for his work and co-creation of Spider-Gwen announced he was leaving comics. It was a weird announcement and why it is newsworthy I’m not sure (there are tons of creators that quit the industry without a peep being made so its weird but also very comical) – however there was one piece of information within this recent announcement.
Rodriguez stated he was leaving comics after the Gwenom story arc- Gwen Stacy possessed as Venom – a book that hasn’t been solicited but is expected to drop sometime around the end of the year. Why is this important and why am I not talking about the announced Iron-Jane -Mary Jane/ Iron Spider-Man comic book that was just announced at C2E2? Gwenom has already appeared in the Marvel universe and is sure to start heating up the back issue bins.
Guardians of Knowhere #1 Gwenom Alternate Variant Cover. This features the first appearance of Gwenom (on cover) and is selling out on ebay at $10. Listings online are starting to dry up with the over-priced copies remaining. This is a book to be looking for with great spec value as more news comes out about the series.
The following contains spoilers, but its also contains some pretty neat speculation!
This was hinted at a few months ago when people read Previews and saw the synopsis of the issue- In the new Guardians of the Galaxy The Venom symbiote is brought into the story and wouldn’t you believe it? The case broke and got a hold of Groot.
Based on the popularity of the Venom / Deadpool one-off – this issue, Guardians of the Galaxy #21 and the next issue Guardians of the Galaxy #22 are not to be slept on (even if it is just for the short term flippery!!!)
