Week in Review: May 8

I don’t think this book has a very long shelf light or has long term hold potential but right now there is one book that comes out this week that has been selling for double to triple cover price. Scooby Apocalypse #25, the more “adult” Scooby Doo DC title, features the death of Mystery Inc. Co-founder Fred Jones. This book has two covers, a regular cover A and a virgin art cover B, both have sold out at the distributor level and have been selling well online. One online retailer sold 20 copies of cover A for $8 each.

Week in Review: January 16

Here are a few books worth mentioning this week,

This week one book that has a few sales above $10 is the Call of the Suicide Forest #1. This book is the second volume of the Amigo Comics “Suicide Forest” series. There is really no reason for this book to be selling well given the first volume’s #1 issue has had two sales in the past two months both under $5. Prices will not stay at this level so this isn’t a book I would be holding on to.

Teether #1 is another indie press book that has been getting some attention on the secondary market. This book is published by Antartic Press and has has sold out at Diamond. There have been at least ten sales on ebay where copies of Teether #1 have sold above $10. There is also a limited to 300 retailer variant for this book.

An older book that has started heating up very recently is the Demon Annual #2. This book started picking up steam when Geoff Johns was asked about the character at a DC Comics panel in DC where he confirmed he was trying to bring Hitman into the DC Television universe. There has been no official announcement.  The first appearance of Hitman, Demon Annual #2 is currently selling for $25 to $30 in near mint condition. These prices are up from the $10 / 15 of last week.

Hollywood Daze: REIGN

Today it was announced by CW that Odette Annable was cast to play Reign in the third season of the Supergirl TV series. Reign is described as a “worldkiller” like Doomsday and the press releases suggest Reign will be a big part of the third season of Supergirl.

Who is Reign? Reign is a character that was first introduced in the New 52 Supergirl series. (The 6th Supergirl series, published in 2011). The first appearance is readily available in the wild and was widely available online until this information was made public – now all regular priced near mint copies have vanished from most online comic marketplaces. Reign’s first appearance is Supergirl #5. This is a book you should be looking for and holding onto.

Week in Review: May 30 2018

There is really only one book to be looking for this week, Spawn Directors Cut 1 Per Store Retailer Appreciation Variant. This book features the Spawn #227 cover with a new coloring and with silver foil logos. This book was sent to every diamond account retailer making the print run 2 to 3 thousand. This book is currently selling for $80 to $100, I would expect the price to drop as more copies come to market, however, with the large Spawn fan base this could be a long term collectors item.

The Unquotable Trump is an ashcan comic book featuring classic comic covers redone featuring Donald Trump and various quotes from speeches he’s made.  Drawn and Quarterly picked up the comic and is publishing an over-sized treasury edition in November. In the past week on ebay this ashcan has sold from $15 to $30. You can still buy copies of this ashcan for $4 from this link.

Week in Review: Lets Talk about the Walking Dead

In a preview clip for this weeks episode of the Walking Dead a clear spoiler presents itself. It is assumed that Father Gabriele is walking next to what appears to be large tiger prints. (CLIP FOUND HERE)

So the speculation is that Morgan is soon to discover the Kingdom which will lead into the introduction of Ezikel, his group, and Shiva (Ezikel’s tiger). First appearing in Walking Dead #108 – This book has been selling on average for $30 in near mint condition, but now is the time to be buying because next week this book WILL start trending upwards.

Valiant Hitlist: Divinity #1

Screen shot 2015-03-16 at 10.11.34 PM

So FCBD has come and gone, is the Attack on Titan the first american published non-reprint, AOT book? Probably, should have legs in the future.
All new X-Men #40 seems to be a solid $12 book. Its weird. But there has been another book to come out recently that I havn’t really noticed until recently.

This was point out on the CGC boards and probably on the Valiant Fan websites but the new Valiant series leading its way into the “big Valiant event” has gone to fourth printing and is steadily selling for upwards of $25! Divinity #1.

$_57
There has been a big push for Valiant titles recently with the new hollywood movie deal getting a lot of publicity, however, its what Valiant is publishing in the very near future that you should be keeping an eye on. Valiant is jumping into the future in their current comic time lines and showing the death’s of all of their major staple characters. There will also be a very limited series called The Book of Death that will only be available to certain retailers who jump through hoops and reach certain order minimums on other orders.

Book_of-Death

The next few months should be heavy valiant and the book you should be looking for right now (and holding onto!!!) is Divinity #1!

Yes there great ratio variants selling for crazy numbers but a lot of easy money will be able to be made on ANY first prints, including the blank variants!

Word?! Bleedingcool Effect on Giant Day

Screen shot 2015-04-08 at 1.35.34 AMBleedingcool for the most part is either late in providing information for their speculators corner or they give information that just throws you off. Today they did a article on Boom’s series Giant Day #1, which has sold out at Diamond in first print and is selling on ebay for $5 to $6. This should be expected to rise just based on the effect Bleedingcool has on the comic market.
Second prints are still available at diamond, first prints are selling for $6 AND can still be ordered on the Boom Website for cover price. With the 1:20 and 1:10 variants also be offered at very reasonable prices. This book has a lot of potential.

Screen shot 2015-04-08 at 1.38.52 AMClick here to be linked to the Boom website where the first prints can still be found in stock for cover price
